Cycling

If you are cycling enthusiasts like we are, we believe you will love exploring the Krkonoše Mountains actively and return home with countless experiences. Mountains and cycling have always gone hand in hand.

What can we offer you?

What does Špindl and its surroundings offer?

Our guesthouse is a great starting point for cycling, with more than 100 km of marked cycling routes in the surrounding area, suitable both for experienced riders and for families with children. All you need to do is enjoy a healthy breakfast with us in the morning, hop on your bike and set off through the picturesque Krkonoše countryside.

Here you will find a small taste of a few cycling routes, but as they say in the Krkonoše Mountains, the real secret reveals itself only when you come here in person – which is why we have kept some routes as a surprise for you…

1. Leisurely educational trip to Bouda u Bílého Labe and the waterfalls

We highly recommend this trip for families with children, as it is not physically demanding. Along the way, you will find a playground and also enjoy a pleasant walk. The beginning of the route is very gentle, with the first climb coming after the first four kilometres. Before reaching the end of the first part of the route, children can enjoy a large forest playground with many attractions. Around 600 metres from the playground, you will find Bouda u Bílého Labe, where you can stop for refreshments.

There are bike racks in front of the building where you can lock your bikes and continue on foot to Čertova Strouha Waterfalls along the yellow-marked trail. This educational path offers countless views of water-management structures such as thresholds, barriers and walls, and ends with a beautiful view of the waterfalls. After visiting the waterfalls, you return on foot along the same route back to Bouda u Bílého Labe (approximately 3 km in total). Once you get back on your bikes, the best return route is via Dřevařská cesta, also marked in yellow. The beginning is steep, so you may need to push your bikes, but after reaching the top, you will enjoy a downhill ride all the way to the town centre, rewarded with beautiful views of the Krkonoše Mountains.

2. Trip with the most beautiful views – Vrbatova Bouda and Labská Bouda

Are you a cycling enthusiast who enjoys conquering a long, steep climb for the reward of a beautiful view? Then you are in the right place. This route begins with a three-kilometre uphill ride through natural terrain to the first stop – Horní Mísečky, from where an asphalt road leads to the first refreshment point, Vrbatova Bouda. Above Vrbatova Bouda, you will find the Memorial of Hanč and Vrbata, commemorating the struggle of two brave sportsmen against severe weather conditions. Looking out in every direction, you will be rewarded with impressive views of the surrounding mountains and the highest peak, Sněžka.

After enjoying the fresh mountain air, you can continue gently downhill for four kilometres to Labská Bouda, where beautiful views open up over the Elbe Valley and Vysoké Kolo. To return, it is necessary to follow the same route back to Horní Mísečky, as cycling outside marked trails is not permitted in Zone 1 of the Krkonoše National Park. From Horní Mísečky, however, you can continue on a circular route via Haldy along an asphalt road, which leads all the way back to our guesthouse.

3. Circular route via Špindlerovka, Petrova Bouda, Moravská Bouda and Davidova Bouda

This trip is one of the most versatile of them all. It can easily be shortened or extended. The first part of the route to Špindlerova Bouda measures twelve kilometres and follows a beautiful asphalt road that hosts annual cycling and roller-skiing races. Here, your first reward awaits – both in the form of scenic views during the climb and refreshments in the nearby restaurant.

At this point, you can decide according to your fitness level – either return to Špindlerův Mlýn along the asphalt road, or continue on the gravel-and-asphalt path to Petrova Bouda. It should be mentioned that the two-kilometre climb up the steep hill is definitely worth it, as it also offers beautiful views of the surrounding Krkonoše peaks. And now the best news for cyclists who enjoy long descents: more than six kilometres of downhill riding await you back to Špindlerův Mlýn, mostly along gravel and then asphalt roads.

We believe you will enjoy your stay with us and choose our guesthouse for your holiday.
